Chair Based Exercise

This Chair Based Exercise class is designed for those with less mobility but the desire to keep moving. During this class we will work on our Flexibility, Balance and Strength. Whilst it may be called ‘chair based’ we always encourage standing with a chair for support if required along with free-standing exercises.

This type of class has been developed to improve mobility, confidence and independence. All done to a background of quietly played great tunes, you may even find yourself singing along too!

Chair Based Exercise classes are £5.00 per class (50 mins)


It may sound like a cliché but if we don’t move it, we might just lose it! These classes are made up of low impact-low intensity routines, designed to get you moving around to maintain good balance, co-ordination, flexibility and stamina.

As well as the moving to music routines, we use resistance bands, gym balls and light dumb bells for the strength section of the class. All done to a great playlist of music from the past few decades, you’ll have trouble keeping still!

ZEST! classes are £7.00 per class (55 mins)

Before you join in…

Some things you may like to know before coming to your first class...It’s always a good idea to make contact before coming along for the first time and then we’ll know to expect you. Best not to eat too near the start of a class, perhaps a snack and a drink an hour or so before. Please arrive 10 mins before the start time, and bring your completed questionnaire with you.

I haven’t been exercising for a while, how do I know which is the right class for me?

It’s understandable that many people have not attended exercise classes for a while, particularly over the past year and this is why I’m offering the Taster classes. If you are not able to attend the Taster classes scheduled for September 2021 don’t worry you’ll not be missing out. Call me for a chat and we can determine together which is the right class for you and then join us when you can.

What do I wear to a ZEST! class?

Please dress for comfort and ease of movement, it’s not a fashion contest! Most participants wear a loose t-shirt or sports top and joggers or lycra bottoms – you can leave the leg warmers at home! However the right footwear is important; whilst pumps and flatties are ok, they’ll not give you much support. Full toed shoes and gym trainers are the best for providing cushioning underfoot and shock absorbing – and much kinder to the hips and knees. And Ladies, a sports bra is always a good idea!

What do I wear to a Chair Based Exercise class?

Most people are comfortable in casual and loose clothing, perhaps a couple of layers incase you get too warm. Comfortable, flat and full toed shoes are advisable – a light trainer or similar, something which will give you support. 

How do I pay?

Please ‘PAYG’ (pay as you go). Hopefully by the time we start, I should be able to accept card payments, however please bring cash for the first few weeks.

Do I need to bring anything to a class?

A bottle of water, a small towel and hand sanitzer. If you are asthmatic, please bring your inhaler.

Why do I need to fill out a PARQ (Physical Activity Ready Questionnaire)?

This is a standard form for anyone attending a Fitness Class. You will be asked to bring your completed form when you attend your first class. Your details are kept by myself in strictest confidence and not passed to anyone or any other organisation.
